I had that same Kiron that BCB has and I recommend it. From personal use I can say it's optical qualities are very good even wide open but better stopped down just one stop.
I also recommend the 35/2.4 that was mentioned. I recently sold my 28 and kept the 35 mainly because of usability (I also had the full manual version) and because I already have an excellent 24 so it was close enough to choose just one, and the coatings of course are much better on the new lens.

Priceless!
Unfortunately that piece of optical perfection is out of my $20 price range. :D
I did however come across a reasonably priced Tokina ATX 24-40 / 2.8 which I'm going to give a try regardless of the less than stellar reviews on PF.

Honestly, I think that review on PF is not serious. :(

I hope it's worth what you pay for it!

An update- Being poor sucks! I wish I could just go buy what I want but all the expenses associated with Redneck Jr.'s HS graduation , college orientation , camp /horse show costs for Demon Spawn III and Mrs. Redneck's continuing experience as a professional student force me to be a "picker".

So here is the deal , the Tokina 24-40 is a pretty cool lens and I would recommend it to anyone if you can find a clean copy. The one I got had bad fungus and the only guy who was willing to try cleaning it gave up. Even so it took very respectable pictures but I need better for this application. I have since found another possibly more obscure lens. A Sigma 28-70 2.8 MF in PKA. Anybody have any experience with this lens? PF has no reviews and I was unable to find a review in any of my searches.
After it arrives and I get a chance to play I'll post an opinion.
