Aren't car shows fun? And challenging for a photographer!

You've done a great job of trying to isolate vehicles from their surroundings. I find I have to be very patient at car shows as people wander into the shot or simply refuse to step back even for a few seconds.

You've done well! :tu:

Amen to that... I LOVE El Caminos, although I'd probably make life difficult by trying to find a GMC Sprint instead... just to have that truck logo on it

Is that an Impala? If so, it looks to be early '60's.

Love the look as it is - no low riders please! :p

Great series - thanks for sharing.

Some truly great captures here DRN. Having been to a few car shows now I'm really impressed by your ability to isolate your subject from distracted, crowded surroundings. Thanks for showing me how it can be done. :-)

I'll echo the kudos for your results on subject isolation too. I've shot these shows and it is hard. Two tricks I've learned to employ at them though are a fisheye lens (my DA 10-17 works wonders for interesting images), and a 5 in one collapsible reflector, which is great to fill in shadows. The reflector idea came from another photographer I saw using it by just balancing off the ground and his need. It was perfect for low shadows on wheels, grills, etc. The other thing is just waiting for the shot a bit.

Regardless, these are all very nice.
