The other day while at work I encountered a road with the most nasty snowdrifts I have ever encountered.
So this was my workout.

workout.jpg

This was actually the nice snowdrift, around 4 feet deep and 15 feet long. The next one I encountered was not so nice, although it was only around 3 feet deep I had my entire tractor and trailer units tires pretty much in the air with all the snow wedged underneath. Since I was looking up a 1/2 mile long hill I would have had to dig all the way up I ended up giving up and calling my farmer to bring out his largest tractor and dig me out and pull me out.

Plus, While at work on a new route I discovered this nice old homestead.

I finally had a nice day to photograph it today. I do have several photos taken in hopes of making up a nice panoramic of it, however I got called back into work early so that won't happen until my next days off (I hope)
I will post it then, if it turns out as good as most of mine do.

Looking forward to your panorama, that isolate farmhouse and the snow swirls make a really dynamic photo.

That is an interesting subject. It would work in b&w as well. My only comment, well it's really more of a question to the group. In the second and third shots, how do you feel about the amount of foreground snow in both images? I think it's a bit too much for each image but I can't decide either. Regardless, I love the third shot as the frosted trees are a really nice touch.

I am just on my phone at work so I will just respond to Blackcloud until I get home.
in my opinion, You would be absolutely right about the snow if there was less detail in it or if there was any more clouds or detail in the sky.
I think that the scene will work better as the pano when it is done, which was always my plan with it.

It works for me as is. In fact, I'd be fine with even more snow in the third shot. In shots like these, the desolation caused by all the snow needs to be emphasized, and a foreground of snow does that well. And KA did a great job of retaining the texture of the snow. Too often snow in pictures ends up being a featureless white blanket. It's very tricky to expose right for snow, especially in daylight.

Nice pics Stu!

I'm with Frank on the shoveling. I have never seen so much damned snow!
Toronto gets 4 " and the world grinds to a halt.
We get a foot at a time and not a peep is heard on the news!
We are going to have some nasty flooding come spring thaw. :~(

Hey guys, on Tuesday I saw snow on the tops of the nearby hills several miles away. Does that count? :eg:
